 Race Winning Performance
Fyfe Sails produces some of New Zealand fastest sails, in a variety of classes ranging from the extremely competitive junior "P" Class, through to offshore racing multihulls and the extreme's of the 12' Skiffs.

We take pride in our ability to produce winning sails for a wide variety of classes and types of yacht. This ability comes from a depth of practical sail making and race winning experience.

Fyfe sails have won National and International competitions in 12' Skiffs, Cherub Worlds, Javelins, 'R' Class, A Class Cat's, Flying Fifteens, 18' Skiffs, Paper Tigers, International 14's, 'P' Class and 14' Skiffs.

  Practical Experience
Ken Fyfe is a highly experienced sailor with 5 National titles in 12' Skiffs along with 5 titles in the smaller 'R' Class.

With no sail area, material or rigging restrictions 12' Skiffs are an ideal development and testing ground, and remain one of the few true development classes sailing in the world today.

Fyfe Sails have remained a small, responsive loft specialising in performance sails. The highly experienced team of Kenny (30 years experience) and Derek (20 years) guarantees great sails, while retaining a customer relationship that the "chain" lofts can't match.

Ken started his apprenticeship with Chris Bouzaids "Sails and Covers" loft, and later left to work for the smaller Beer & Guiniven loft where a higher degree of customer contact was available.

Fyfe sails was established in 1974 and continues to offer a one on one, personal relationship with clients.

 Materials
Not all sailcloth is created the same, every material, and each combination of fabrics behaves in a unique way.

Understanding the performance characteristics and interactions of each type of sailcloth in the modern multi-layer sail is critical to the design process. To achieve the ideal balance between speed and durability requires an intimate knowledge of the best materials available backed up by practical "on the water" experience..

Our loft is not aligned to any sailcloth manufacturer. Our materials are sourced from the worlds leading brands Dimension Polyant, Contender and Bainbridge to best meet your needs, aspirations and budget. Whether you're looking fo ultra lightweight skiff sails, race proven 'P' Class sails or affordable, fast and durable cruising sails.
